Most of the time, our minds race to human beings when we hear the word “counsellor”. And yes, man can counsel us: however, the word counsellor is not limited to man.
Let’s have a look at this scripture:
“Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counselors” (Psalms 119: 24).
Are you going through a difficult time? Are you saying to yourself, “Where is my way of escape”? Perhaps it’s time to look at what the Lord has done for you in the past.
Consider the various testimonies in your life, and let them be your counsellors. Ponder on what the Lord did for you before, how He brought you out, and how He delivered you, for He has not changed. Let what the Lord did in the past be your present counsellor in that situation.
Encourage yourself in the Lord. Say to yourself, “What the Lord did then, He will do now”. Recall David in 1 Samuel 17: 37, “David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee”. Did the Lord not deliver him?
Begin to remember all of your testimonies and ponder them. Let them encourage you and be your counsellors. Look through your journal or wherever you have recorded things in the past and begin to remind yourself of the goodness of the Lord.
