Prayer And Asking

Prayer And Asking

Matthew 7:7-11

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Lesson:

We can go to our Father and ask for anything. He is waiting on us to depend on Him, seek Him and wait on Him. God is our Great Provider and He knows what we have need of. He knows our hearts desire and He is waiting on us to line up with His word, that He may give us the things that we desire.

It is only when we line up that we can and bring forth good fruit that we can began to see God’s blessings. It has to be this way because our hearts before we come into the knowledge of Christ are filled with evil. And when we are in the world we will ask for things we have no business asking for. We will pray and ask God for all kinds of stuff, material possessions that we want only for ourselves, we pray against other people cause we don’t like them or they did something to us and the list goes on. That is evil and God is not into blessing evil or helping you to commit sin.

When you are filled with the Holy Spirit you will then know the things that you should pray for. You will have some wisdom and understanding from the Lord. Your heart will be filled with the truth and you will desire the things of God. Those things will be whatever is needed and necessary to glorify God.

God is waiting to give us good things. It reminds me of how I am with my own children sometimes. I can see that they have a need or a desire and sometimes I will wait to see if they will ask me for it. I won’t give it until they ask. I do it, one because I want them to know that they can come to me and that I am always here for them, it’s a bonding thing for me. And two because I do not want them to think an feel as if I will always just give without them doing anything to receive it. When you are able to give someone something because they asked and you have more than enough of it, think about how you feel. It makes you feel good on the inside, your heart is filled with joy and gladness. Well, why would we think that God doesn’t want the same think. It makes His heart glad to to give of all that He has to His children when we ask of Him.

I personally would like to make my Father glad and I’m sure I have more that lacked in this area. And when I think about it really, I believe that this turns out for my good and God being please with me. It also builds trust. To ask someone for something means that you are trusting and believing that they can and will give it to you. There is no one on this earth that can do that like our God can. Man will let you down but God can never fail.

I will leave you with one scripture to meditate on with this lesson:

Matthew 6:33

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
