Easy Yoke Light Burden

Easy Yoke Light Burden

Matthew 11:29-30 King James Version (KJV)

29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Because Jesus has bore everything and more on the cross, we know that he is able to handle all that we face and then some more. The bible says that he cared the sins of the whole world with him to the cross and that he has defeated death. So when I read this scripture it tells me that He has done something for me in which I can never repay him and now I can take on His yoke. Meaning take on “the service of God as I teach it”(Smith Bible Dictionary). This passage of scripture is an open invitation from Jesus where he invites us to to let go of the burdens, weights and spiritual emptiness and sin that we carry around and take the peace, joy and rest that can only be found in Him.

It is a gift, a free gift that he is giving to all that are tired and weak and will hear and respond to his call. There is not a need for us to try and save ourselves. It is a tireless effort and a loosing battle. But He is the one who will save us and give us rest. This is a part of that grace which is given to us all not by our works, but because He who sits high, looks low and watches over us loves us with an everlasting love that is unconditional.

I invite you today to hear and accept the free gift that is so generously and graciously offered to every one of us. Take the rest that is offered from our Heavenly Savior. Trade your burdens for his because His is light and His yoke is easy.
