Aaron and His Wife Miriam Speak Against Moses

Numbers 12 Amplified Bible (AMP)

1 Now Miriam and Aaron talked against Moses [their brother] because of his a]” Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite woman.
2 And they said, Has the Lord indeed spoken only by Moses? Has He not spoken also by us? And the Lord heard it.
3 Now the man Moses was very meek (gentle, kind, and humble) orabove all the men on the face of the earth.
4 Suddenly the Lord said to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, Come out, you three, to the Tent of Meeting. And the three of them came out.
5 The Lord came down in a pillar of cloud, and stood at the Tent door and called Aaron and Miriam, and they came forward.
6 And He said, Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord make Myself known to him in a vision and speak to him in a dream.
7 But not so with My servant Moses; he is entrusted and faithful in all My house.
8 With him I speak mouth to mouth [directly], clearly and not in dark speeches; and he beholds the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against My servant Moses?
9 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against them, and He departed.
10 And when the cloud departed from over the Tent, behold, Miriam was leprous, as white as snow. And Aaron looked at Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous!
11 And Aaron said to Moses, Oh, my lord, I plead with you, lay not the sin upon us in which we have done foolishly and in which we have sinned.
12 Let her not be as one dead, already half decomposed when he comes out of his mother’s womb.
13 And Moses cried to the Lord, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech You!
14 And the Lord said to Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed for seven days? Let her be shut up outside the camp for seven days, and after that let her be brought in again.
15 So Miriam was shut up without the camp for seven days, and the people did not journey on until Miriam was brought in again.
16 Afterward [they] removed from Hazeroth and encamped in the Wilderness of Paran.

Reflection :

Is there a growing issue in your heart that is causing you to find fault with others? An issue of pride, envy or jealousy that you choose not to deal with on a deeper level, will cause you to speak out against others because you will not admit what is in your own heart. You allow this seed of sin to fester in your heart and in turn speak out against others and sink deeper into sin. God was unhappy about Aaron and Miriam speaking against Moses and the wife that he had chosen. They could not find fault in Moses leadership because he was led by God, so instead they decided to criticize his wife because she was an Ethiopian woman. I think in doing so they were unknowingly also criticizing God’s leadership.

When you face situations such as this, stop and ask yourself first, is it me. Is there something in my heart that has caused me to criticize another. And if so what is the real issue I need to deal with and how long have I had this issue. Then go to God in prayer and ask Him for help in delivering you from the issue and healing you of whatever hurt caused you to become that way in the first place. Let God take you back to where it first began, believe me He knows even when you don’t. Let Him break that chain of bondage that holds you and be set free.

I Am Not My Own

I came across this poem and I want to share it because it touched me…

My God, I am not my own but yours.
Take me for your own,
and help me in all things to do your holy will.
My God, I give myself to you,
in joy and sorrow,
in sickness and in health,
in success and in failure,
in life and in death,
in time and for eternity.
Make me and keep me your own;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Love’s Prayer Poem

I love to read and it wasn’t until my adult years that I took a liking to poetry. I began to understand and relate to the words and the effects that poetry has not just on our minds but to get down into our hearts. It is a most talented gift, appreciate it if you have it. It is an encouragement, and as it encourages me I will try to encourage you with it as well. LOL….no I do not write poetry, I guess I have never tried. Well that is something to think about…..hmmm. Anyway please enjoy today’s inspiring poem…Ta-ta!
Poem ~
Love’s Prayer
by Lucy Maud Montgomery
Beloved, this the heart I offer thee
Is purified from old idolatry,
From outworn hopes, and from the lingering stain
Of passion’s dregs, by penitential pain.

Take thou it, then, and fill it up for me
With thine unstinted love, and it shall be
An earthy chalice that is made divine
By its red draught of sacramental wine.

Come, Come Draw Nigh To Me

One day I made the decision to in my heart that I would start each and every morning with God. As I desired this I began to see the change and the desire of my heart was being fulfilled. I found that when I awake each morning that God is the first thing on my mind. It was no longer the man I though I would be with. And I felt more joy and peace having God on my heart than some no good earthly man. But as I learn to wait on God and look for Him the moment I open my eyes, or more so before my eyes are even open. , God will show up and He will speak to me before I can even get out of bed. God is so awesome.
I am no where near a bible scholar and will never say I know every word in the bible, because I don’t. Ninety percent of the time I can’t tell you off hand where a scripture is found. I can know the story but I can’t tell you where to find it. But what I can do is grab my bible concordance and look up at least one of the main words or verses an it always leads me to exactly what I need.

So as I was saying often times when God speaks to me I may not know what He is saying. I mean I hear Him but I don’t know if what He is saying is a direct scripture or just something He wants me to know. But even when it is something He wants me to know there is still scriptures that I find in His word to back it up.

This morning I heard God say “Come, come, draw nigh to me.” I didn’t know whether to get out of bed and start walking or lay here and wait. Oh I am notorious for laying in bed and waiting to hear from God because I feel like I need as much quiet and stillness as possible. And sudden movement from me while I am listening will distract me and my attention will run away like I have ADHD. It’s funny the same way our kids do us is the same way we do God. I can be talking to one of my kids and if something grabs their attention in the middle of my sentence, their mind is gone, no longer focused on what I’m saying. Ha! See how my focus just shifted! Anyway back to the point….As I wait and listened to God He just kept repeating this sentence and it sounded very familiar to me, I knew it but now I had to find it in the word. Oh I love how God works like a mystery case. He will give you bits and pieces and you have to solve the rest. So my hunt started and bingo! With my Strong’s Bible Concordanceand my bible in hand I found the scripture.
James 4:8 (KJV)8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. And the Amplified (AMP) says, 8 Come close to God and He will come close to you.

My response to God is this, Lord how do I draw or come closer to You because I do not claim to know how, not of my own strength. Help me to come closer to You. I will do all that I know how to do but the rest I give unto you to lead and guide me to You. Help me to cast down the thoughts that come to tell me that I am dumb or stupid because I do not know. Lord I need You, In JESUS Name I pray. Amen
