Chose Your Position for the Battle

When the enemy comes in like a flood, God will raise up a standard against him.

Have you ever been in a position that everything you have the enemy begins to attack? Things come out of the woodworks against you. He attacks your health with something you’ve never seen or experienced and the doctor shrugs it off as not important enough for testing. Prescribes a few non-effective medications and sends you on your way. Debts you’ve never seen appear and takes your money before you even know they exists and before you know it you can’t make ends meet. You pray and trust the Lord even more but He hasn’t changed your situation and you find yourself asking, What’s up Lord?”

I’m in a place where I can feel the attacks of the enemy and I can hold my grip on faith. With every blow I hold on. Even when I feel like God is not rescuing me, I believe he will, just in his timing. The fire is hot, the darts are being thrown and I’m holding up my shield of faith. For in every battle, a warrior must know when to use each piece of the armor God has equipped him with. There is a time to strike with the sword and there is a time to hold your ground and defend yourself with the shield.

This lesson is new territory for me. And in this current battle I have learned to hold my ground and protect myself with the shield of faith. Yes I continue to pray and pray the word of God. This battle is not one for me to charge the enemy with the sword because as I recognize and feel in my spirit, that this is a battle God has already planned and won. In Exodus 14 Pharaoh was in hot pursuit of the children of Israel after Go hardened his heart that he would go after them. He did this so that he would be glorified and honored (Exodus 14:4) and that the Egyptians would know without doubt that he was Lord.

See there are battles God sends us out to fight and there are battles God fights for us. The battles I fight shows others who he is IN me. This battle he is fighting for me because He wants to show me more of just who he is TO me. Yes I cried and yes I asked god what is this that is happening in my life right now and more so why is it happening. Is it something I did is always my first question. That’s the flesh part of me asking just as the Israelites were asking Moses.

The battles I fight shows others who he is IN me. The battle he fights show me who he is TO me. Click To Tweet

Exodus 14:10-12
10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord.

11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?

12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.

But Moses answers the people with faith in the Lord. And here is where I find my answer to what to do in this battle.

Exodus 14:13-14 Then Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid! Take your stand [be firm and confident and undismayed] and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today; for those Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you while you [only need to] keep silent and remain calm.”

In faith Moses speaks to the children of Israel and follows the instruction of the Lord God. He tells them to go forward. Today God is telling me to go forward. Keep pressing towards the mark and He will have victory over my enemy. He will cause waters to draw back and part for my safe passage to the other side of the sea. He will drown my enemy in the traps, snares, troubles and tribulations that he has caused me. For the Lord fights for me against the enemy til there remains not so much as one of the troubles from him.

Song of the Heart: My Everything

Through a flood of emotions and trials what my enemy doesn’t realize is that in this time I don’t have a heart to turn away from God. All my troubles and desires make it all the more necessary to draw closer to my lifeline. When words fail me and my prayers have turned to pure tears my heart cries out that, I am His and he is all that I know and all that I have. He is all that I need when it feels like my world is closing in on me.

The song says:

I am empty will You fill me up
I know I’ll make it if You fill my cup
Yes it’s essential that I be with You
Cuz You are, You are, You are, my everything
Oh oh, oh oh oh Lord, oh oh

He is Ubiquitous

Psalm 139:5 You have enclosed me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.

Have you ever thought of a word that you’ve never heard before and wonder if it’s a real word? I find ever so often I I could be doing something an all of a sudden I hear this word and I can’t seem to get it out of my head. I wonder what it means. It happened again this morning.

I was in the shower and I was just thanking God for who he is. I try to give him thanks throughout my day and in the midst of whatever I’m doing. And being the first think in the morning I just wanted to say thank you. But I heard the word Ubiquitous and I’m like what? And then I kept repeating it in my mind over and over again. After I got out I went on about my morning getting ready for work. I finished got the girls and off we went.

I’ve had a busy day so far and hadn’t thought about the word again. But here I am back in my office after going to a meeting and training a new employee and I hear this word again. Since I’m now in from of my computer I decide to stop what I’m doing and look it up.

Ubiquitous means existing or being everywhere, especially at the same time; omnipresent.

Okay stop the press! Lord I hear you. All I want know is to seek him and know what it is I need to do. I love the ways God will grab your attention. It’s not conventional and often times, unless its a corporate call, it’s tailored specifically to you. It’s like how we know to get our children’s attention. We know them by their personalities and differences from one another and we address them, call them, tend to them according to their uniqueness.

So I got it. God was letting me know for whatever reason that He has not left me, nor can I run, hide or leave him. He is everywhere, all the time. That’s my word for the day.

Here are some scriptures about God’s Omnipresence.

Created In His Image

In the very beginning, God creates all things. Genesis 1:1-2:3

Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like ourselves. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”

So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
(Genesis 1:26-27)

God created us human beings different from the way he created other animals. He created us in his image, both male and female, and he gave us authority over all other living creatures on this earth. This gives us considerable value and invokes an important question to be answered: In what ways are we made in the image of God?

God discernibly did not create us exactly like himself, because He has no physical body that can be touched. Instead, we are a reflection God’s glory. Ingrained within us being our speech, reason, self-determination, and creativity is what some believe is the image of God. More likely so it is our entire self that reflects the image of God. We can never totally be like God because he is our supreme creator. But what we do have is the ability to reflect his character in our love, patience, kindness, faithfulness, and forgiveness.

Being sure that we are made in the image of God and planted on the inside of us are his characteristics provides a solid basis for increased self-esteem and respect for one’s self. Self-worth is not based on physical attractiveness, possessions, public acclaim, or achievements. It is however based on being made in the image of God. Because we reflect God’s image, we can feel confident in who we are. To Criticize ourselves is to discount how God has made us and the abilities he has given us.

Knowing that you are a person of great value helps you love God, know him on a person level, and give meaning to the lives of those around you.

Thank God for his creating you in his image. You are an extremely unique creation and he loves you. Thank him for all of the special gifts, talents, abilities, physical characteristics, emotional makeup, and personality that make you who you are.
